Luxul Wireless, an innovator of patented high-performance wireless signal technologies, announced the availability of the Shock-WAV™ Frequency Translating Amplifier (FTA) for use in secure Military, Department of Defense (DOD) and Homeland Security applications. The FTA converts signals generated by commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) 5.x Wireless LAN technologies to the secured 4.4 - 4.94 GHz Government band and transmits that signal over long distances. The bi-directional FTA enables any 802.11a wireless LAN radio to operate in the 4.4 - 4.94 GHz Government Band.
“Designed to leverage COTS components for secure military use, the Luxul Wireless FTA technology is an ideal solution for the DOD and Homeland Security,” said Tyler Crawford, president and CEO of Luxul Wireless. “This further solidifies Luxul Wireless as a leading innovator of world-class wireless technologies and offers the cleanest, most efficient wireless amplifier on the market.”
Using Luxul's patented Shock-WAV™ Digital Signal Booster technology along with frequency conversion, an 802.11a wireless access point can be converted to the government band (4.4 – 4.94 GHz) and broadcast at up to 2 Watts average power (8 Watt Peak) while still maintaining 64QAM OFDM throughput. The FTA is capable of achieving throughput speeds in excess of 15 Mbps at distances over 20 miles, making the Luxul Wireless FTA capable of handling voice, video and data at long distances. The Shock-WAV FTA is currently being tested at a distance range of up to 40 miles.
